It was January 18th, 2023 when I took the first step towards making my dream a reality. With a passion for handcrafted jewelry, I started my own little venture – creating beautiful pieces using fabric, oxidized metals, and intricate mirror work. Little did I know then that this humble beginning would turn into an incredible journey of self-discovery, determination, and unwavering spirit.
Just 2 days after I had embarked on this new path, life threw me a curve ball. I was offered a job on 20th January, one that I couldn’t refuse given the financial responsibilities that came with being a mother to my 20-month-old baby. Torn between my dream and the practical realities of life, I decided to take on the job, but my entrepreneurial fire kept burning bright.
For three months, I juggled the demanding role of a working mother and an aspiring businesswoman. It was a constant struggle to find that elusive work-life balance, so after three months, I had to take the difficult decision to leave my job and dedicate myself fully to my business venture.
However, the path ahead was far from easy. Balancing the demands of running a business and managing a household with a young child left me with little to no free time. Undeterred, I carved out pockets of productivity wherever I could find them. Late into the night, after putting my baby to sleep, I would burn the midnight oil, working tirelessly on my creations until the early hours of the morning.
During the day, I would seize the opportunity of my child’s nap time to dive back into my work, determined to make every moment count. It was a relentless cycle, but one that I embraced wholeheartedly, for this was the path I had chosen – a path that allowed me to pursue my dreams while being a present and devoted mother.
Even as I poured my heart and soul into this venture, the lack of support from those around me was disheartening. My husband and family, though well-meaning, couldn’t understand why I insisted on taking on this additional burden. Their concerns and frustrations were palpable, but for me, this wasn’t just a business – it was a dream I had nurtured for far too long to let go.
Despite the challenges, I persevered. Sales were steady offline, but the online world remained an unconquered frontier. As someone who is still learning the ropes of social media marketing, photography, and video creation, I found myself struggling to make my mark in the digital realm. But I refused to be deterred. With each new piece I created, with every small victory, I grew more determined to turn my passion into a sustainable and successful business.
Today, as I look back on this incredible journey, I am filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. I have proven to myself, and to those who doubted me, that it is possible to chase your dreams, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. And while the road ahead is still long and winding, I know that with my unwavering spirit and the support of those who believe in me, I will continue to soar.

It may seem daunting, it may seem impossible, but trust me when I say that the rewards of following your passion are immeasurable.
