Finding My Path: From Struggles to Entrepreneurial Success

To say something about myself, I am Rifa, a 28-year-old, aspiring to be a Financial Planner and a Finance Writer. I am also a part-time Food Blogger. I’m so grateful that this blog is getting published today, which also happens to be my birth date, March 16th. It feels like the perfect moment to share my journey with you all, filled with highs, lows, and the invaluable lessons I’ve learned along the way.

From a young age, I faced challenges that could have easily discouraged me from pursuing my dreams. As a child, I struggled with holding a pencil properly, making writing a daunting task. While other kids seemed to breeze through their assignments, I found myself taking much longer to complete them.

Despite numerous visits to specialists and therapists, it was Dr. Tanuja Prem who finally taught and motivated me to write. I worked tirelessly to improve, determined to keep up with my classmates. I faced a lot of problems during school life, but my friends and especially, my teachers helped me a lot. They understood my situation and would allot me extra time for all the exams. However, the real test came during my 10th board exams in 2010.

I was informed that to receive extra time on my exams, I needed a specific certificate. After numerous trips to Sion Hospital, the certificate was deemed invalid. It was at this critical moment that my school principal, Mr. Ajay Kaul, came to my rescue, ensuring I received the extra time I needed. Thanks to his support, I was able to achieve an impressive 78% on my board exams.

Little did people know that what they perceived as a disability was, in fact, a blessing in disguise for me.

My journey didn’t end there. In my 12th board exams, I scored an outstanding 96% in Accounts, solidifying my belief that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. With a burning desire to become a Chartered Accountant, I prepared relentlessly. However, life had other plans. Despite completing all my IPCC papers, I couldn’t clear the IPCC Exams, and in 2016, my dream shattered. It was then that I realized that perhaps I wasn’t meant to be a CA, and I needed time to discover my true passion.

I went on to complete my Masters of Commerce with an Overall SGPA of 9.06 out of 10 and after all of this I truly believe that, if things do not work out in the manner which you expected them to, do not be disheartened, because those things did not work out for a reason!

My passion for food blogging, soon became my driving force. I am also a part time Food Blogger. What started of as an hobby, is now my passion project and a platform through which I want to try to support as many Businesses as I can!

For the past seven years, I’ve been an avid food blogger and small business supporter.
