As a mom and a woman, life can often feel like a whirlwind of responsibilities, leaving little room for personal pursuits. However, my story is a testament to the fact that it’s never too late to reignite your passion and turn it into a fulfilling career.
I, Prity Jha, am an Independent Artist who was born and raised in the Madhubani district of Bihar. I hold a master’s degree in Management with a specialization in HR and Finance from APJ College Greater NOIDA. Without any formal training in art, I evolved a language of abstraction that carries my own personal imprint rooted in Indian aesthetics, due to a powerful and sensitive initiation from the evocative environs of Madhubani, Bihar.
As an artist, I have made significant contributions to contemporary art practices through my unique approach. I also create various forms of artwork such as oil paintings, acrylic, gold foil, watercolors, resin, charcoal, and photo-ink paintings. I take inspiration from nature to create landscape paintings and have collaborated with various Art Organisations in India and abroad.

When it Started?
When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, the world as we knew it came to a standstill. Amidst the chaos, I found myself drawn to the idea of expressing myself through art. Starting with simple drawings on paper, I soon realized my interest in delving deeper into the world of Madhubani painting, an intricate and vibrant form that originated in the Mithila region of Bihar, where I hail from. What started as a simple creative outlet soon blossomed into an all-consuming passion, prompting me to seek out online training and refine my skills.
Motivation Behind Starting
My childhood fascination with Mithila art always lingered within me, albeit unexplored. However, as the world grappled with the lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, I found myself drawn towards exploring this passion more seriously, turning it into a professional pursuit.
Challenges Encountered
Of course, embarking on this artistic journey wasn’t without its challenges. Initially, grappling with the intricacies of Madhubani art posed a challenge, particularly my lack of theoretical understanding. However, I chose to view this as an opportunity for growth. Delving into extensive reading, including books on Madhubani painting, interviews with artists and art historians, and studying Indian art history, I gradually gained a solid understanding of the art form.
Support System
Throughout my artistic venture, I’ve been fortunate to receive unwavering support from various quarters. My family, close friends, social circle spanning the globe, fellow art enthusiasts, and even my students have all played pivotal roles in encouraging and backing me in my artistic endeavors. Their belief in me fueled my determination to push forward and explore the depths of my creativity.
Role of Instagram
Instagram emerged as a valuable platform for showcasing my artwork, paintings, and creative projects. Through Instagram, I’ve not only shared my work with a wider audience but also received numerous orders, inquiries, and engagement. It has proven to be an invaluable tool for networking and establishing my presence in the artistic community.
An Inspirational Call to Action
My journey has been one of self-discovery, resilience, and a testament to the power of pursuing one’s passions, no matter the obstacles. To all the women and moms out there who feel trapped by societal expectations or personal doubts, I urge you to take that first step towards reclaiming your individuality. Embrace your talents, nurture your dreams, and let your light shine bright.
I stay with my husband and two sons and also teach art to budding artists at my studio in Bangalore. Follow me on Instagram (@madhubani_art20) to witness the evolution of my artistic journey and be inspired by the boundless potential that lies within each of us.
