“ME” Time & Some Tips For New Mommies!!

I have a 2.5-year-old daughter, being a new mom I was not aware of many things which come along this whole journey. I was up for all the challenges making way towards me, but while I was juggling between these challenges, I lost myself. I realized it every day, but still, I was not able to focus on myself. Here is what I did to keep myself calm and showed some self-love which helped me recharge my hormones and my mind throughout the day.

One of the most important things is to understand your baby’s sleep pattern, accordingly, you can make your plan for the day. A lot can happen if your baby’s sleep pattern is set. Not only it helps the baby to grow and develop, but it also helps mother’s like us to take some time out and take care of ourselves.

Yoga- I was not really into yoga until my doctor suggested I do yoga on daily basis during my pregnancy. I was regularly doing yoga, but post-delivery I left it as I was under-recovery and was taking care of my baby and like most of the new mom’s didn’t have much time. Not only yoga relaxes your mind and body it is really useful to get fitter, in shape and relieves your backache which is of utmost importance for a new mother.

Sleep/Nap- As a new mother I was sleep deprived most of the days, which increaseD my Stress levels along with my thyroid. This made me low on energy and lethargic, the energy I had was spent on taking care of the baby. I took care of this situation by the abundance of sleep (at least 6-8 hours) which looks mostly impossible with a newborn or even a toddler. But you need to understand the time when your baby takes a nap, that time can be utilized to take a nap yourself and regain the enemy levels. Sleep makes your stress level goes down and in return normalize your hormones. This makes your energy levels go up and alas you get some Me time even after taking care of your baby. During my ME Time, I made sure I utilize it completely on myself.

Health checkup and hygiene- Since taking care of the baby takes most of the time from our hands, during my me time I spent it on taking care of my health. You need to be healthy to perform day-to-day activities. Hence, please ensure to visit your doctor for a regular check-up. Another thing which affects the most to new mothers is hair fall, skin pigmentation, stretch marks, so I kept these checks on my list so that these factors are not ignored as it is equally important than many other factors.
