Hi there! My name is Jennifer D’souza and I want to share my inspiring journey of how I turned my passion for traditional Maharashtrian ladoos into a thriving home-based business.
After I had my baby, my mil made these most delicious methi ladoos, haleem ladoos and gond ladoos, and I can’t tell you enough how much I loved and enjoyed eating those ladoos. Even my parents would eat those ladoos everyday as they just enjoyed the taste.
I moved to Mumbai for my higher education and that’s where I met my husband and married into a warm Maharashtrian family. My mother-in-law Shweta was an absolute gem when it came to making delectable ladoos and faral items. Her age-old recipes, passed down through generations, from my husband’s great-grandmother to her daughter-in-law, and then to my mother-in-law Shweta, preserving the authentic flavors and techniques of traditional Maharashtrian laddoo-making.

After the arrival of my little one, my MIL’s culinary talents reached new heights as she made the most exquisite methi ladoos, haleem ladoos, and gond ladoos. These delicacies were so incredibly delicious that words fail to capture the sheer joy and delight they brought to my taste buds. Our family, friends and neighbors couldn’t get enough of her homemade delicacies. Even my parents, captivated by the irresistible flavors, couldn’t resist indulging in these ladoos every single day, savoring each bite with pure relish.
In early 2022, I created some attractive creatives showcasing the mouth-watering ladoos and circulated them in my society’s WhatsApp group. My initial goal was to get my mother-in-law a few extra orders from our neighbors. Little did I know that this small step would lead to something much bigger!
A few months later, a fellow society member who belonged to a women entrepreneurs’ networking club approached me. She was impressed by my creatives and extended an invitation to join their club to learn how to grow my budding business. I attended a guest meeting at the Indian Women’s Business Club (IWBC) and was instantly hooked. By the end of 2022, I had become an official member, and ‘Ladoos by SHWETA’ was born.

Ladoos by SHWETA is a home-grown business that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Maharashtrian cuisine. We take immense pride in using Shweta’s time-honored recipes, which have been lovingly passed down from my husband’s great-grandmother to his grandmother to my MIL Shweta & then finally to ME.
Since our launch in November 2022, we have catered to over 600 happy customers and are continuing to grow every day. It fills my heart with joy to see people relishing the same flavors that brought so much happiness to my family.
