Chapter 4 : Why Should One Appreciate Failure?

Failures should be appreciated but many would not be convinced by just the statement. True that. We are living in a digital modern display world and we want proof. My point for my friends favouring my initiative of appreciating failures and creating awareness for the same lies in the golden words of John Wooden.

Failure isn’t fatal, but failure to change might be

Ok, let me start it by elaborating on a small incident I saw a few days back.

A few days back I went to my friend’s daughter’s birthday party. The party was huge and awesome food 😄. Then after the cake cutting and all the kids were invited for musical chairs. Everyone was excited 😺. After all, they are small kids.  But what I noticed at the end of the game is that my friend has bought gifts for each of the participants. The winner 🏆 got a little big gift and the rest all were offered nicer gifts 💖 too. When I asked the reason, my friend replied that she didn’t want any child to go back disheartened. I suggested that she could have given the same as return gifts but she viewed that then also kids would be heartbroken.

I was like,” What, really?”.

Are we nurturing such a weak youth? If they can’t welcome this bit then what will happen in the ups and downs of life.

Do you also feel the same? Is this what they deserve to be taught?

We see kids playing games and crying or creating scenes on losing the same. But why? What do we do then? Many of us ask them to play again and we let them win anyhow. Is this correct?

Are we fair to their little minds? Why can’t they be taught the acceptance of victory and failure alike?

Do you also feel like asking these questions to your inner self?

It should be noted that it’s not failure that is fatal, but failing to accept, work over again and desire to change is not appropriate.

Encourage Child

  • To have a similar attitude towards victory and failure as both are the two faces of the same coin.
  • To always be positive and flexible to change for better outcomes.
  • Not to hesitate to accept the mistake.
  • To be ever ready to try again.
  • Always stay prepared for welcoming the change as changes are the essential part of enhancement.
  • To understand that one who understands that failure is inevitable establishes himself as an inspiration for others.
  • To make his way instead of following the majority.
  • Most importantly to believe in himself and his calibre to achieve.
  • Giving up is never the solution.
  • To take failure as their teacher.

It’s their upbringing that should be focused on in earlier stages to avoid regretting in future. Make them strong persons. Instead of going with the easy way let them explore the reasons, cause and required path themselves. Please stop Spoon feeding them. They are a smarter generation and have better perspectives. A strong mind and soul will help them to be optimistic even at times of huge failures in life. They will be determined to try again till they achieve success.

Trust me the success that comes after hopelessness and failures tastes great. As is beautifully carved by Denis Waitley:

Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is a delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.

– Denis Waitley

Guide them to treat failure as a true friend always ready to point out the weakness to bring out your best.

Reasons Failure Should Be Appreciated

  • Gives you positive vibes to explore more.

  • Brings opportunities to accept a change of mindset.
  • Adds on the possibilities to develop.
  • Motivates you to a better understanding.
  • Always teaches you to accept challenges.
  • Always believe in the new sunrise.

To have a stress-free and eliminate the self-harming words from the world let’s come up with a change of mindset.
