As a 46-year-old happily married woman, I never imagined I would become an entrepreneur. With two grown sons and having completed 25 years of marital bliss, I was settled into my role as a homemaker and home chef. Little did I know that a new chapter awaited me.
Seven years ago, my father, my greatest motivator, encouraged me to turn my passion for cooking into a business. I started providing gourmet food and customized food hampers from my home kitchen under strict hygienic conditions using homemade masalas. This venture not only allowed me to explore my culinary talents but also gave me a sense of purpose.
In 2021, I faced one of the greatest challenges of my life – losing both my parents to COVID-19. This profound loss plunged me into a deep depression and a void that seemed impossible to fill. However, it was during this dark period that Instagram became an unexpected source of solace and distraction.

My brother and I decided to channel our grief into a new venture – an online women’s apparel business, leveraging my diploma in textile designing from South Delhi Polytechnic for Women. We began our entrepreneurial journey from the comfort of our home. This activity not only kept us occupied but also provided a much-needed distraction from our sorrow.
Juggling both businesses, along with managing my household duties, was a formidable challenge. Time management, health issues, stress, and workload tested my resilience. However, with the unwavering support and love of my family, especially my husband, and in-laws, I overcame every obstacle.
I cannot emphasize enough the role Instagram played in my healing process. It provided me with a platform to express my creativity, connect with like-minded individuals, and ultimately, achieve financial independence.
Initially, progress was slow, but I persisted, consistently posting on Instagram stories and reels. It took nearly a year to build trust among my Instagram family, but gradually, they became my loyal clients, along with my family and relatives. The journey was arduous, with periods of no response or visibility, but the encouragement from my brother, husband, sons, and in-laws kept me going.
My driving force was a desire for financial independence and a need to stay productive after my children grew up. However, let me assure you, it is not as easy as it may seem. It demands unwavering dedication, time, involvement, and consistency.
As I look back, I am filled with gratitude for the support system that propelled me forward and the courage that kept me from giving up. Today, while my following may not be vast, I am determined to grow, exploring new ideas and creating engaging content to promote my businesses.
To all the women and moms out there, my story is a testament that it is never too late to pursue your dreams, reignite your passions, and embrace financial independence. Believe in yourself, lean on your loved ones, and persevere through the challenges. The journey may be arduous, but the rewards of self-fulfillment and empowerment are priceless.
