Nizami Zewar: From Broken Dreams to Award-Winning Entrepreneur!

My journey as an entrepreneur began with a broken dream. Fresh out of college with an MBA and B.Sc. in Computer Science, I had always envisioned myself as an independent, working woman. In 2012, my dream seemed to be within reach when I received a job offer from Infosys during campus placements. However, just three months later, my life took an unexpected turn when I got engaged, and the condition was that I could not take up the job offer. Torn between my passion and the prospects of a good marriage proposal, I eventually listened to my father and let go of my dream job.

After my marriage in 2014, I found myself confined to the four walls of my home, craving a sense of independence and the ability to earn my own money. I tried my hand at multiple Work-From-Home opportunities, but unfortunately, fell victim to fraudulent companies, losing almost 2 lakhs in the process. Dejected but not defeated, I stumbled upon the world of reselling in 2016, and with the support of my husband’s cousin, I took my first step into entrepreneurship.

The excitement of making my first sale was unparalleled, and from that moment on, I approached every order with the same enthusiasm. What started as a reselling venture soon blossomed into my own brand, Nizami Zewar, specializing in exquisite Jadau jewelry. Launched in 2019, Nizami Zewar was a culmination of my passion for jewelry design and my unwavering determination to carve out a niche for myself in the industry.

The journey, however, was not without its challenges. As a mom of three, balancing my business with the demands of pregnancy and raising children was a constant struggle. Managing the business while navigating the complexities of relationships with in-laws added another layer of complexity. Moreover, selecting the right sources for manufacturing the products and dealing with the consequences of misplaced trust in a few karigars (artisans) led to financial losses.

Despite these hurdles, I persevered, and my hard work paid off. In recognition of my exceptional craftsmanship and design prowess, I was honored with not just one but three prestigious awards, including the coveted “Best Jewelry Maker” and “Best Jewelry Designer” accolades.

Today, Instagram serves as my primary platform for connecting with clients, and I am eternally grateful for the opportunities it has provided. While I don’t have a website yet, I am steadily building my brand and clientele through this powerful social media platform.

As I look towards the future, my dream is to create an automated business by 2025 and gift my husband his favorite car – a small token of appreciation for the unwavering support he and my parents have shown me throughout this incredible journey.
